FINAL PROJECT - MANUELA ARANGO NAVARRO - COURSE 7
Manuela Arango
Navarro
Final Project
A few years ago in December, when I was meeting with Deivid,
who was my boyfriend at this time, I had an embarrassing situation with him.
It was Saturday afternoon and I was talking on the telephone
house with Juli Lejos, one of my best friends, and Deivid called me on my cellphone
for invite me to go out a night. I said, “of course, it sounds good, I will see
you at 8:00 o´clock, and can I to invite Juli Lejos?” and David answered me
“Yes, let´s go all for us”. I said to Juli that she had to be with me at night
because she knew I was very nervous if I went out alone with Deivid.
When the night came, Deivid picked me up at my house
in his car. Then, we went to pick up Juli Lejos. She lived close to Las Vegas
Carrefour, so we decided to go to Messopaso for a few beers, while we looked at
what we could do this Saturday night. While Juli got down, we were listening to
music because Juli was very later.
Eventually, we bought many beers and we sat on the
street like on a little wall and began to talk about different things about
December, like family´s parties, presents, New Year´s Eve, trips and fireworks.
Suddenly, David was searching for pictures on his cellphone because we wanted that
Juli and I looked at some pictures of grandmother´s David because she was very
funny on December.
Then, Deivid showed us a picture, and I saw it and said
“Uy, mero muñeco de navidad”, and I began to laugh a lot, and the David´s
expression was “Why are you laughing? It´s not a big toy with fireworks, she is
my grandmother!!!!!”. Suddenly, I stopped laughing and I was very very embarrassed;
however a few minutes later I began to laugh and I said: “Deivid, I´m sorry,
but really I am ashamed… I didn´t know why I laughed”.
Deivid was very serious with me, finally Juliana said
“Deivid, please didn´t put in this way I think Manu was right, in this picture
you grandmother doesn´t seem a grandmother!” And I said, Juliana please! realized
that with a comment the things were going to be worse.
Next, Deivid stood up and went to the bathroom while
Juli and me were talking about the situation. We didn´t know how to make Deivid
happy. Really he was very angry with us. Then, he came and said: “I was
kidding, it was for making you feel ashamed”. At this moment, Juli and me was
reassured.
In conclusion, after this episode, we had a delicious
time that night.

Good Experience
On saturday April 20th, some friends from the university and I visited the municipalities Jardin
and Andes. We left the university at 7:30 am. We traveled by bus. We had breakfast in Titiribi, and at 9:30am, we went to Andes. There we visited one sugarmill where we could see some stages of the production of panela such as to press the sugar cane and the bulling of the sugar-cane juice. Then we went around the municipality by mototaxi. Later we practiced canopy, and it was very amazing because some of my friends made very funny gestures and others stayed in the middle of the way and they didn't get to the other side. we stayed there until 2:30 pm and we had lunch in a very good restaurant. After that, we arrived to Jardin. Jardin is famous for its beautiful gardens.
The end of the trip, we went to the candy's house and we bought some of them. Almost at 5:00 pm, we took the bus and came back to the city.

Strange camping!!!
One of these days while
we were climbing a mountain at night we heard some laughter that scared us and
then something very unusual happened.
When we arrived we
felt very tired and went to our tent. Then while we were sleeping heard
laughter again and we were stayed inside because we didn’t want to know what it
was.
Later, something or
someone moved the tent from outside for a few minutes. We thought that it was a
cow and we took a flashlight, but we couldn’t go out because we were paralyzed
by fear.
Next everything was
quiet, but then it happened again but it was stronger. We were very scared and
we prayed, but we didn’t go out.
After that, we
heard laughter but never knew what happened, even now we wonder about this
event but we will never know.
We’ll never forget
it!

HOLIDAYS FROM 93´
Maria Angélica Gutérrez Flórez.
It was
new years´eve and for the first time, my father´s family had decided to spend
the holidays together. This happened in Cali and although nobody was from
there. My uncle's farm was ideal for this event so my mom, my brother and I were
enthusiastic to go.
Cousins
and uncles arrived from all around the world. I was surprised to see many
people on one side together. It was really exciting to see them all and the
best part of this was the presents that we shared and gave among the family.
My
brother quite enjoyed this trip because almost all of our cousins were from
its age. They spent the night dancing salsa and having some drinks. The Little
kids from the family watch some movies and we ate some candies and popcorn.
I was only
7 years old and as typical young girl, i didn't know how to swim. My cousins
decided to taught me how to swim. They talk me how move my arms and legs in
the wáter. After a couple of hours my arm and legs hurts me.
Finally,
on January 1st I said goodbye from my holidays. It was hard because I didn't
know when I'm gonna see back my family. I returned back to see my little
dog. It was a nice moment that will live forever in my memory.
AN ARMY STORY
By: Andrés Duque
About eighteen years ago, I was serving in the Colombian army. One day, we were patrolling in the Chocó´s province. We left the military base by helicopter. It was a gunship Black Hawk. While we were traveling, the entire platoon was talking about our lives, about our families, about our future projects. We laughed a lot about the stories that everyone told about their projects, because some stories were very funny. I remember a lot that there was a colleague who wanted to be a bus driver but the story I remember the most was the one of a fellow soldier named Ruiz: he wanted to be a rapper and he was a kind of stutterer. After two hours of flight, we arrived at the military base in Chocó´s jungle. We walked for two days and the group divided into two squads. The one where I was, was headed east and reached back to the base three days after. The other platoon was headed west and we met after three days.
That day, the helicopter should have picked us up at the site that had been set for the meeting but the helicopter never arrived to pick us up. The platoon commander decided to come back to the base by walking and told us: "soldiers, we must walk to reach the military base" and we had to walk for several days. Time passed and we ran out of food and we only had water. I remember that in a very humble home the owners gave us a soup cooked with animal fat but we were so hungry that the soup tasted like the most delicious dish in the world. After a week of walking through the jungle, we arrived at the military base, and we didn't feel our feet because of the tiredness and we got two days off for resting.
Sometimes when I meet with some colleagues with whom I was in the military, we remember that experience a lot.
MY LAST VACACIONTS
On my last vacations i went to cartagena with 3 friends for electronic music event "Summerland". the day of the event we went to buy some bears for the road. i was so happy to pay the beers i forgot my wallet at the store counter. but i didn't realize that i had forgotten my wallet there & we continued our road to the event.
When we arrived to the event, to pay the taxi i realized that i didn't have my wallet with all my money & all my IDs. the event was outside of Cartagena & i had to return me to the store to retrieve the wallet, the city it's approximately 30 minutes of the event.
The taxi driver in his desire to help me he got barrowed a motorcycle to avoid the traffic city. When we arrived to the store the boss said me my wallet wasn't there. when he saw my desperation he told me he was just kidding. that he keep my wallet in case i sought it, when i checked my wallet was all my money & IDs.
For obvious reasons i had to give the taxi driver good money becose he was an excellent person with me. when i arrived to the event i delayed 1 hour looking my friends but when i found them we enjoy the party to the fullest becose we had planned to go from about 2 mounths before.
The event was 4 days of presentations of famous DJs. we only were going for the second day and that day canceled the event for logistical reasons. but all of Day 2 djs would play on day 3 with the DJs of the day 3 were more than 10 known international djs worldwide djs then saw many more of those who were planning to see.
also we met some girls we had planned to go to the event but to forget my wallet in the store i forget to call them because I was the only one with the number of them and when I arrive I had no signal on my phone and could not find them. so the funny part is that we found out the event when everything was over.

My First live concert - *Diego Chalarca*
The first time I went to a live concert was in 1995 when I was 15. The concert was my favorite singer's Fito Paez and it was at a nightclub in Medellin. At that moment, I was underage so I could not enter to nightclubs. I remember that I went with a friend. He was 18 and he invited me to the concert because he knew that I loved Fito Paez's music.
So, we went to the nightclub but in the entrance the doorman told us that I could not enter to the club because I was underage. I remember that my friend told me to wait outside, he entered the nightclub. Then he came up to me with one of the organizers of the concert and the organizer told me that if I wanted to enter, I had to show that I really was a fan of Fito Paez. So he asked me many things about Fito and his music and I answered all of his questions and then he said "a 15-year-old boy who knows so much about Fito's music, should enter!" So, I could enter to the live concert and I was very happy. I couldn't believe it! I was so lucky!
Yesterday and after 18 years, I attended my sixth live concert by Fito Paez and I'm still enjoying it as if it were the first time.

My trip to Venezuela
My trip to Venezuela
By Elizabeth Villa Mesa
Last December, I went with my family to Venezuela,
some relatives live in this country. In this trip we were also accompanied by
my boyfriend Juan Camilo and Kelly, my brother´s girlfriend.
The trip began on December 27, and when we were at the
airport to board de plane, my brother Felipe remembered that the money that the
exchanged into Bolivares was forgotten in Kelly´s night stand. We all looked to
him and asked: Why was your money in Kelly´s night stand? And why didn´t you
bring it? Everybody, my mom, my boyfriend and I, wanted to kill my brother and
he felt very bad.
Once we were all in the plane and after an hour, my
mom decided to break the ice and talk to my brother. After this, all of us
laughed at what had happened and we decided to lend some to my brother until he
could solve his problem.
When we arrive to “Barquisimeto”, my aunt Clara helped
my brother. A friend of her had a trip from Medellin to Barquisimeto, so She
talked to Kelly´s mother and She picked up the money in her house and took it
to Venezuela.
After all, we had a great vacation. My brother could spend
all your money buying things to give to their friends. Besides, he could invite
us to dinner one night; this was a time that we really enjoyed on the trip.

My brother in India
MY BROTHER IN INDIA
I have only one brother. His name is Juan Cristobal. He is really funny and
he has a lot of funny stories in his life. Now I will tell you some
of them.
My brother has always been a good student, like a nerd. He is a mechanic
engineer and two years ago he took an exam to study in India. And, of course , he passed. Then he went to India for 3 montas. There, he went through
several situations about the lifestyle in India. He told me that all people
in India eat with their hands so they use their left hand to clean after
going to the bath, and they use their right hand to eat. One day, his Indian friend invited Juan Cristobal to a party. The people there always put one glass with water to clean their hands before eating, and everyone washed their hands. When he started eating , he felt that the food was very very spicy and he didnt have anything to drink, but he was very very mired, and he didnt has an other thing to do, but to drink the water in the table. Everybody laughed, and others looked at him in disgust.
Another day , Juan Cristobal was going to the town , and he told his friend
to accompany him. When they were going, his friend took his hand , and my
brother was angry, suddenly my brother saw that all the men were holding
hands. He understood that the men in India hold their hands when they are
walking.
This is my brother´s history in India.

The Lone Rider
"The Lone Rider"
i remember the time which we were children and we did not care anything at all, just having fun, and enjoy the moments with our family and friends, those moments marked my life because from that time i have a lot of regards.
once we were at our uncle Dario house, which was located in Don Matias. There were a lot of cousins grouped together playing and running everywhere in the house, when uncle Dario came with two horses and we made a line to mount the horses to be able to ride them. all of us were riding them one by one with so much joy on our faces and I was anxious, waiting for my turn. when my turn finally came, i felt really happy, but after i got on the horse something went wrong and the horse went crazy and started to run and i could not stop it, and the more i tried to stop it, the more he wanted to run, while i was yelling "uncle, uncle, uncle." When the horse finally stopped, it stopped next to a barbed wire and i was almost falling down, but nothing happened and everybody started laughing and i got nicknamed "the lone rider."

Near to Death
Near to Death
I don't remember the
exact date and I don't want remember it, but more or less one and a half year
ago I had a great disease, I was very very tired by the study, I wouldn't eat
good and I couldn't sleep, to next day I got up to go to the university and in
the bus I was listening to music and suddenly I felt very dizzy, tachycardia
and much pressure in the chest, in that moment I got fainted, when I waked up
and I was at the hospital. The nurses made me four nebulizations, two
electrocardiograms, six blood tests and one radiography in the chest. I was all
day at urgencies and in a blood test resulted the disease, its name is
pericarditis, is a inflammation of the pericardium, the fabric that covers the
heart. Then of that I was in recovery for three months, I had to take
appointments with the psychologist, pills and a great rest.

FIELD TRIP IN UNIVERSITY by. Harold Cardona trujillo
FIELD TRIP IN UNIVERSITY
by. Harold Cardona trujillo
One day, some time ago, I went to the university. I was walking to my classroom when suddenly I saw some of my classmates walking towards the university bus, when I asked them what was going on, they told me that we had a journey to a farm in the Valle del Cauca, I freaked out! Because, I did not remember that trip. so, I rushed off to my house pick my suitcase up and go to the university again, but as my classmates were ready they left me, so the only option I had was to go to the bus station and travel alone... After traveling by myself for three hours I could reach them.
THE LAST DAY OF THE SEMESTER
That day was the last day of the
semester. I was studying in the university when I remembered that “I owe a buret
and a test tube in the lab and if I don´t pay it I can´t register the other semester”
immediately I went to near chemical store but I couldn´t buy the buret because I
had to buy a 50 milliliters buret and it only had 25 milliliters buret. I freaked.
Then, the salesman said “Don´t worry, in front to the minorista there are a big
chemical store you can buy it there”. I took
a bus to the minorista. When I arrived there the salesman said, “I don´t have
that buret”. Ten minutes later I was in the university glassware I told about
the buret with the secretary and she said me “you could pay the burette and gave the receipt to the chemistry technology, and then she came to buret when
ready” but I had a problem the buret cost was 70 thousand pesos and I only have
40 thousand pesos. I called my dad to get me money and I went to ATM for the
money, I came back to university glassware, page the buret and went to the lab
to talk with the chemistry technology. She said me “OK, no problem”. I felt
relieved at that time.

Slowly, I was walking to another sidewalk and from there one

LOST TOURISTS
Ten months
ago, I went to Lost City with my cousin and her husband. We had an itinerary,
but at first everything went wrong, because our travel guide forgot to write the address to the hotel in Santa
Marta. When we were arriving at the city, we didn´t know where we will sleep that night and where were the meeting point the next day for start the expedition. We
didn´t know the names. We called him but, he didn´t answer his cell phone because its didn´t has
signal. He was in the mountains near Lost City with other tourists. We were
very worried for this. Fortunately we had friends at the Rodadero and they invited us to
spend the night with them.
But the big problem was that the guide travel didn´t find us, and we didn´t find him. We only knew a place` name “El Machete” but we didn´t know how come there. We asked people for its and they were giving us indications. We were traveling for two and half hours from "El Rodadero" to "El Machete" while the travel guides looked for us in the dawn town to begin the journey. When we found the place people said us: “you are the three lost tourists” and we were happy to hear this, because now we weren´t anymore lost tourists. One hour later, we met our travel guide at “El Machete” and then we had a nice travel while we were talking and laughing about that experience.

A Ride Around Town
Final Project.
One day I went for a ride
around town with my two best friends, we were riding bikes for the streets of
Medellin. Their names are Yanet and Jesus.
We made three stops for to
take pictures and drinking water actually in the first stop we saw that Jose
had a flat tire and did not know how to fix it then did not follow with us and
decided to return to his home very sad.
After Janet and me continued but Yanet tripped over a rock and slipped
actually she sprained her hand and also spilled water all we had for the road
and the sun was very strong heating.
Then Yanet did not want to
keep riding bike and decided to return to his home because she was not feeling
well actually this was the second stop we made.
Then I continue riding bikes
alone and after a while I found the best scenery to make some good potos in
this there are mountains, people, children cars, water and lots of color.
To see this beautiful place
called my two friends to come back to see this place, they returned and enjoyed
an afternoon of photos.
Finally this was the third
stop where we were taking pictures, listening to music and enjoying together.
